Sorry if this post came a month late, I’ve been busy and I guess there won’t be a completely free period in my life. Once you are studying seriously or working, “bloging” can be considered an extra but leaving this aside; if you read my last post, you’ll see that my plans on searching good designers to write about also includes discovering good artists regarding manga style, which was the main reason why I created this blog.
For my first “Manga Deviant Watch post”, I have decided to talk about Too.
Note: please consider my opinion about this artist impartial, not because of past critics about Too’s work but because my direct relationship with the creators of “The S.T.E.A.L. Saga”, a series of novels in which Too is currently working as illustrator. Also note that I have chosen Too as my first choice of topic for this post for his talent as an artist, not for my relationship with “S.T.E.A.L.” in which I have no participation inside the project (other than book diagramming design).
Too uses Copic Markers for his works, like many other professional manga-ka in the industry; despite the incresingly growing number of “only-digital” illustrators (also inside japan’s industry. This tendency started from some years ago). I concider that being able to use Copic Markers the way Too does (Kurecolor for those who can’t afford it) and deciding to continue at it even though digital illustration in one way, is easier, may offer more and takes less time than traditional illustration (if known how to do it), is what makes of Too a great artist. You can check out Too’s “how to use” Copic Markers tutorial clicking here.
On a final note, I got to know Too’s deviantart site when Luca & Marco Beltrame (close friends) where looking for a good artist to work as illustrator for their novels.
